About

Oksana Lepska is a Latvian soprano and an alumnus of the Royal Academy of Music and Royal College of Music, London, United Kingdom.

Oksana’s musical education began aged six when she started studying piano in music school in Riga, Latvia. She began private singing lessons same year and has continued to develop her skills ever since. At the age of eleven, she was chosen to introduce Latvia at a talent show in Moscow, Russia. She was then spotted in the USA and invited to perform at Carnegie Hall with other young artists: pianist Aimi Kobayashi and marimba player Rostislav Sharaevsky. Oksana was fourteen years old when she started having classical singing lessons; after this experience, it became her dream to be an operatic soprano. Having finished music school and nine years of secondary school, she started her education at High Music College of Jazeps Medins where she studied Vocal Performance, under the tutelage of Natalia Kozlova. During her studies in Latvia, Oksana’s most notable achievements were: first prize at the Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition in NYC (2012, 2014), First prize for most-promising singer in Graz, Austria, two solo concerts and two CDs.

After graduating from College in 2015, Oksana moved to London and started her Bachelor degree at the Royal Academy of Music, where she was offered a scholarship. During studies at RAM, Oksana had three singing teachers and two coaches. Her final year mentors were Elizabeth Ritchie and James Baillieu. She also worked considerably with Michael Dussek, Richard Stokes, Peter Robinson, Alec Crowe, Lada Valesova and others. Some of her achievements at the Academy include: a performance of Schumann’s ‘Myrthen’, becoming a member of the prestigious “Song Circle”, participation in Masterclass with Susan Bullock, and performance in Academy’s ‘Opera Scenes’.

November 2018 saw the Artistic Director of Neue Stimmen personally invite Oksana to take part in masterclasses with Jennifer Larmore, an opportunity fully-funded by the Government of Luxembourg.

After graduating from RAM Oksana started her Master of Performance degree at Royal College of Music, where she was supported by Bruce-Vaseppi Scholarship. Both years she studied under the tutelage of International Mezzo-Soprano Patricia Bardon and was coached by Caroline Dowdle and Gary Matthewman.

During education in London, Oksana’s musical career has hugely progressed. Whilst she has participated in many projects and competitions, and has collaborated with many talented musicians, Oksana regularly performs at venues around the world, including Russia, Austria, France, Italy, Belgium, and the UK.
